As an avid scrabble fan I was thrilled to find out there was a travel version. Upon receiving the travel game as a gift, however, I was a little disappointed with some of its features.
In this version the grid has raised edges which are meant to keep the tiles in place. Unfortunately, there is still room for the tiles to move around and a high chance of them being displaced if there is a bump or accident during play. I had envisioned the grid being something that the tiles would snap into, thereby avoiding disaster of any kind. Snap-in tiles would also make it possible to save a game in progress and come back to it later. I thought that this was an advertised feature, but I haven't yet figured out how you could successfully save a game and pack it away with the current design.
There is a storage space beneath the grid which is very handy for all of the materials, but the way it opens up is cheaply constructed. The plastic separates from the actual grid so that the board and the grid do not match up quite right when viewing. I solved the issue with some scotch tape, but I would have thought the makers could have designed this better.
All in all, scrabble lovers will love the game just because they can play it wherever and whenever they want. Just a few construction issues that lowered my rating.

This compact version of Scrabble, the old-fashioned family favorite, will make a long train commute or cross-country plane journey pass more quickly. The 10-by-11-inch plastic board with its raised squares holds the tiles securely while you play, then folds up to become a neat, sturdy, 6-by-11-inch carrying case for the clear plastic letter racks and the cloth bag of tiles (you can use the bag for drawing letters). The letter racks can fit into the sides of the board if necessary, though they're not obviously meant to do so, making this less of a car or bus game than it might have been; still, it's perfect for train, plane, or boat. Be careful not to drop the tiles, as they're quite a bit smaller than standard Scrabble tiles--but even if you do, good old Milton Bradley will replace the ones you lose. E-N-J-O-Y (15 points)!
